For many, Valentine’s Day is a day to lavish those we love with expensive chocolates, beautiful flowers, and a romantic night. But what about those of us who can’t afford to let go of our hard-earned cash because of inflation? What about those of us who are alone or don’t have anyone near and dear? What then? What do we do? Treat OURSELVES of course!

I have a list of 4 local ideas for you to treat yourself, a friend, or a loved one without making your pennies squeal.

1. COSTCO is calling our name. Delight in Godiva Dark Chocolate Ganache Hearts for $9.99 and 2 lbs of fresh strawberries for $7.99.

Nothing represents Valentine’s Day like dark, creamy, dreamy chocolates filled with ganache paired with a sweet strawberry. Godiva is a great way to self-indulge and is a higher quality chocolate than others available on the market. Actually, I could devour this every day for dessert but then I’d be forever on a diet.

2. Count your blessings! Target’s Blessing Journal for $11

Holidays can leave many of us drained and feeling alone or depressed, but have you ever considered all the numerous blessings in your life? We aren’t at war, we have food on our tables, a roof over our heads, and heat despite rising gas prices. So why not take a moment to reflect and remind ourselves of all the beauty we get to enjoy on a daily basis? These reminders lift me up, keep me motivated, and keep me feeling positive.

3. Mission Inn Spa & Resort staycations from $279-549

Relax and bring wellness into your life. Valentine’s Day is when we should show ourselves as much love and appreciation as those around us. These overnight packages are for couples, but who said we can’t treat ourselves or bring a friend? I love solitude and staycation getaways because it helps me to rejuvenate and face the new week.

4. Spring is in the air. Well, not quite yet… but it is just around the corner. UCR

Botanical Gardens are open for free! A small donation of $5 per adult is appreciated. Take your delightfully, dark chocolate ganache Godiva’s, your fragrant fruit, your Blessings Journal, and commune with nature in the beautiful botanical gardens of UCR. Go alone or take a friend.

Whatever you choose to do this Valentine’s Day, be sure to, take a moment to indulge yourself, refresh yourself, and enjoy yourself. Shower yourself with love. Be kind to yourself. Valentine’s Day is a day that should remind us to love ourselves as much as those around us.

Join the GotInfo Community and social media platforms and let us know what you think of this year’s Valentine’s Day cards, gifts, and other treats. Here is an idea, maybe we should add another holiday to the calendar and name it the Self-Care Day- the day when the busy working moms, the hard-working dads, the caretakers and the time-crunched professionals take a day to indulge themselves.
